Volunteer experience
I previously volunteered at an animal Shelter called Squishy Face Crew and I learned so many intriguing aspects about animals throughout my experience there. While volunteering, I performed certain tasks such as washing dishes, doing laundry, sweeping, organizing the adoption packages, performing dog/cat rotations (cleaning kennels and refilling their food/water), cleaning rooms, making space for more animals, and I also got to wash a kitten as well. One of the managers also showed me where the quarantined animals were and I got to see them taking care of the animals. For example, they gave a shot to one of the dogs there to help alleviate the dog’s illness. Furthermore, when I was washing the kitten, I was informed that the kitten was sick and had fleas embedded in its fur. Subsequently, me and my co-volunteer thoroughly washed the kitten so that the fleas would come off and make the kitten feel better. In addition, I was also informed by another volunteer about parvo; a virus in dogs that affects the immune system. They were telling me about how they were taking care of them. Although there is currently no cure for parvo, they explained how they were giving the dogs the treatment needed to help alleviate the symptoms to make them feel a lot better. Overall, I am so glad that I volunteered. I learned many different things from that experience.
Here are some pictures that I took!
